DaSilva’s Auto Body of Naugatuck, CT is a Certified Emissions Repair Facility. We have Certified Emissions Repair Technicians (CERT) on staff to assist Connecticut residents who have failed their emissions test.
What Is Emissions Testing?
Vehicle owners are required by law to pass an emissions test every one to two years, depending on the model year. This protocol measures the amount of exhaust that’s emitted from your engine when you drive. It is critical information for research purposes and helps the state develop a standard to keep our air quality safe for the environment. According to the Connecticut Emissions Program, vehicles fail when there is a problem with one of the following systems:
- Air Induction System
- Fuel Metering System
- Ignition System
- Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) System
- Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) System
- Fuel Evaporative (EVAP) Control System
- Secondary Air Injection System
- Exhaust System
- Engine Emission Control System Sensors
- On-Board Diagnostics – OBD
- Related Parts
When a vehicle fails, the owner is issued a notice for the vehicle to be repaired within 60 days of the test date in order to reduce its excessive emissions that are polluting the air.
What Can a Certified Emissions Repair Facility Do?
If your vehicle fails the emissions test, you’ll have to find a certified facility to complete the necessary repairs. Although some people choose to make the repairs themselves, the Connecticut DMV recommends finding a trained CERT. If your vehicle fails a second test, you may qualify for a cost waiver – only if the repairs were performed by a CERT. The minimum repair cost for waiver eligibility is $865 as of January 1, 2016.
